St. Mark's Supports Scouting

St. Mark's BSA Troop 1879 Activities. Troop 1879 meets every Tuesday night at 7 PM in the CLC, Room 208.  Visitors always welcome.  On May 7-8,the Scouts camped at James River State Park and enjoyed Hiking, Biking and Fishing.  In June, they will provide community service to the church by way of serving CARITAS Dinner on Tuesday, June 8^th and taking down the cots on Saturday, June 12th.  A Troop Swim will be held on June 22^nd to fulfill their swimming requirements for a week at Camp Brady Saunders starting June 27.  Here they will be camping, swimming, and earning Merit Badges, and the leaders will be trained to provide more opportunities for future troop trips.  In July, three Scouts will participate in the 9 Day National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill. Stephen Stepp will be a Patrol Leader and Tyler Smith will be Historian for their Jamboree Troops. The younger boys in the troop will be making a day trip to visit as well.  The troop always has a full calendar of activities, and we are looking forward to next year. We are again a young troop with our senior scouts going off to college, and are looking to rebuild with new members as we start our 20th year.
